Biography - Christopher Richard Coombes
Christopher Richard Coombes is a seasoned aviation fuel expert who started his career as a fuel analyst at Air Mauritius, a highly successful international airline in Africa. He brings with him over a decade experience in the aviation fuel business. Christopher rapidly grew into the position of fuel manager at Air Mauritius and had responsibility for whole fuel portfolio from planning/budgeting through procurement to price risk management.
Christopher’s knowledge and expertise in the aviation fuel business is well regarded by the industry. Besides being a frequent speaker at aviation fuel forums in Africa, he was a presenter at the Armbrust International Jet Fuel Conference in Las Vegas in February 2006 and was also an adviser to the Risk Management Committee of the State Trading Corporation in Mauritius.
Christopher is now an independent aviation fuel consultant working for two internationally renowned companies, Commport Aerospace Services Limited in Canada and A/S Global Risk Management in Denmark. Both companies are IATA Strategic Partners.
He holds a postgraduate engineering degree from Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine, London, UK.
As a regional partner covering Africa, he has attended and facilitated for training within and outside Africa on Aviation Fuel Operations covering handling and safety, Product Price Risk Management and Financing with Barclays Bank, South Africa, International Petroleum Exchange, IATA, and Airbus etc.
